World Mental Health Day educates and raises awareness of mental health issues around the world. The day provides a welcome opportunity to mobilise efforts in support of mental health and to take some time to think about our own wellbeing.

At AXA, it’s important to us that we not only support our customers but our employees too. That’s why we’re committing to breaking down the stigma of mental health issues.

What are we doing?

We’re launching new Mindfulness Courses in Dublin, Derry and Belfast. Our employees will learn mind-body based approaches that can help them to manage their thoughts, feelings and mental health.

Promoting open and honest conversations is key to changing the culture around mental health and wellbeing. We’ve introduced new Mental Health First Aiders in Northern Ireland and we’re launching applications for training in our Dublin office. Our Mental Health First Aiders act as a point of contact for any employee who may be suffering from a mental health issue. They are fully-trained and equipped to offer support and self-help strategies as well as wider health and wellbeing activities.

And let’s not forget the Yoga classes. The breathing techniques, exercises and meditation used in Yoga can help improve mental health and happiness.

We know a happy workplace is good for everyone. By looking after our people we’re helping them to do their best work which ultimately delivers the best experience and ensures that we’re there for you, the customer.

Take 30 seconds out of your day to work on yourself and just breathe. Your body and your mind will thank you for it.
