  • Why are AXA making this payment?

    We are making this payment as a result of lower claims volumes experience due to COVID-19 restrictions.

    We believe that giving claims savings back to customers during the COVID-19 pandemic is the right thing to do.

  • Am I eligible for this payment?

    All Private Car, Van, Taxi and Motorcycle customers with a live or suspended policy on the 29th April 2020 will receive this payment.

  • What do I need to do to receive this payment?

    You don't need to do anything.

    If you pay by direct debit, we will transfer the payment directly to the bank account used to pay your premium. If you paid in full, we will issue a cheque to the last address we have on file for you.

  • How much will I receive?

    All eligible customers will receive €30.

  • When will I receive this payment?

    We will start to issue payments from June 15th, please bear with us, processing this volume of payments may take several weeks to complete.

  • How did AXA calculate the refund?

    We have estimated claims savings as a result of COVID-19 to be approximately €20 million. This works out at approximately €30 per customer.

  • Why are all customers receiving the same amount?

    We wanted to make this process fair. After considering several options, we believe this the best solution for our customers.

    Choosing this option results in the payment being sent to you as soon as practically possible, while also making sure all customers receive an equal share.

  • I had a claim; will I still receive this payment?

    Yes, all customers that held a Private Car, Van, Taxi and Motorcycle policy on 29th April 2020 will receive €30, regardless of a claim being made.

  • I suspended my policy during the lockdown period, will I still receive this payment?

    Yes, all customers that held a Private Car, Van, Taxi and Motorcycle policy on 29th April 2020 will receive €30, even if your policy is, or was suspended.

  • I have more than one policy with AXA, will I receive a payment for each of them?

    Yes, a €30 payment will be made for each Private Car, Van, Taxi and Motorcycle policy you held with AXA on 29th April 2020.

  • Does this payment impact my cover?

    No, this payment does not have any impact on your policy cover, or terms and conditions.

  • Does the payment include a return of the government levy I paid?

    Yes, the €30 refund includes the return of government levy.

  • What other steps have AXA taken to help their customers during this crisis?

    In addition to the €20m provided in refunds to motor customers, AXA Ireland has responded in a number of ways to our changing customer needs and some of these supports are outlined below:

    • Allow customers up to 28 days after the renewal date to make the agreed payment (normally this payment has to be made before the renewal date)
    • Support for customers who are in financial difficulties via flexible payment terms
    • Working with customers to find options to reduce premiums such as reduction or temporary suspension in cover
    • For existing AXA customers, we will add additional drivers (full licence between 30 and 69 years of age) free of charge (enabling customers to have a neighbour/family member drive their car to support them with shopping, medical supplies etc.)
    • Providing free extension of cover for volunteers delivering food and essential items to the elderly or the vulnerable in our communities
    • AXA Ireland and Renault have joined forces for Covid Car Cover; providing complimentary cars, insured by AXA, for up to 2 months to support doctors and nurses returning from abroad to support the HSE
